This event highlights Revolutionary War Captain George Pearis, the namesake of Pearisburg, and the history of Pearisburg, Virginia with a variety of fun activities for all ages including a children's programs.
George Pearis resided and was in command of the Pearis Fort on the New River providing refuge for settlers. Captain Pearis joined Major Joseph Cloyd in suppressing Tory uprisings in 1780 at Shallow Ford along the Yadkin River in North Carolina and was severely injured in the battle.
